Myken Norwegian Wood, the seventh and final whisky from the tasting session, had a compelling story to it. It is crafted entirely from Norwegian materials, including the malt, water, and the barrel itself. The Virgin Norwegian Oak used for the cask was dried at Myken for four years, and they managed to produce only 16 barrels in total.
This whisky tasted outstanding, offering a complex palate with hints of spice and fruit. What was truly remarkable was that it had only been aged for three years. The virgin oak played a significant role in its development, contributing to its unique flavor profile.
The saddest aspect is that this whisky is not available on the Norwegian market. It was originally bottled at cask strength, 61.5%, but we received the 60% version, which is the legal limit.
